Maybe I'm a little late, but I want to say about the video animator - Ryu Kato. The fact is that Kenshi is very fond of the Japanese band People In The Box. Many amazing Japanese musicians listen to this band. Ryu Kato has done many videos for People In The Box. Ryu Kato also painted all the op for their tours and concerts. Therefore, for Kenshi Yonezu, choosing Ryu Kato for the video was special, because she was drawing for his favorite band and maybe he decided to pay some tribute to PITB. Plus, based on the theory about the song, that it has hidden meaning associated with dead people, it would be logical to choose this artist. Ryu Kato's work has always had a certain deep meaning, which was often gloomy.

演奏に三味線と笛が加わっているのを知り、もう一度耳を澄ませて聞いてみました。
意識すると、確かに聞こえてきます。もうびっくりでした。
意識しないとわからないレベルで和楽器を使用していること自体が常人ではないですね。

It may seems like a happy and fun song But the true meaning behind is surprisingly sadder than u think. The girl/boy with the red cape might be a ghost who Probably lost his/her life in natural disaster or during war. People usually says that kid with the red cape is a ghost! . Not to mention the child with red cape never grows up. And at the end of the video, the already grown up two children bring flowers to the child in the forest. Its Probably where the child's grave located. (It makes me cry ahh) The meaning of paprika in flower language is "never forget you" which is quite weird in happy merry song? And the song was released during obon which is a holiday season, said to be a period when dead spirits return to living world in japan. But kenshi san said in interview that there's no deep meaning behind this song. (Right. Highly doubtful kenshi san. Your existence itself has deeper meaning than the whole universe) First time listening to this song, a weird feeling of sadness and melancholic couldn't leave my mind even tho the song is about kids having fun. I read an article related to the meanings behind this song from somewhere before and thought i'd share Here. It just my one sided conclusion so please don mind me. Sorry for my bad English haha.
