why do all the Korean commenters think badly about eyk for talking about their experiences in korea and comparing them to japan? sure, they talked about some negative experiences they had here and there, but they also shared a lot of wonderful things that happened to them in korea, you can't honestly say that life in korea is 100% rainbows and butterflies, can you?

Makes me laugh when Martina replies in English to Yuka's Japanese... it's essentially what I'm like. I can understand Japanese fine but always reply in English by mistake/habit. Anyway! Great video.

why is here so much negativity against Simon and Martina? what I got so far is that they said that every Korean houshold has no bathtubs and wooden beds? (Even though they said it is more likely to find douches and only these " old" hotels that lay their eyes on traditions have wooden beds and old people like to use them) I think there is a little language barrier between what the Koreans understand and what M&S said , bc in almost every video they have disclaimers that they generalize the Korean society amd traditions and only talk about their experiences... and also I didnt get a bad impression about Korea nor Japan from their videos... when I for example compare it to a Vice video I have the feeling that S&M euphorize these 2 countries. (srsly... there is so much shit going on in some places they had been to, and didnt lose a word about e.g. child hookers )

I usually never comment on Youtube videos because I like to avoid needless drama with strangers on the Internet, but after scrolling through all of the crap in the comment section, I could not stay silent.
As a Korean who has been living in South Korea for the past 5 years (I lived in America and Canada prior to that for many, many years), I am appalled but not very surprised by the amount of hate some Koreans in the comment section are directing at this lovely Canadian couple. The comments on Naver articles are about the same quality (Naver is the most popular search engine/news site in Korea. Kind of like Google for Koreans).
To those who are not Korean, I want to emphasize that the Koreans you see in the comment section are NOT an accurate representation of actual Koreans. They are a minority with too much time on their hands, a severe lack of maturity, and an inferiority complex that spurs them to slander others behind the mask of anonymity granted by the Internet. Every race has a minority like that, so don't be under the impression that ALL Koreans hate this couple.
I love Korean culture. I can't survive a week without Korean food. I am spoiled by Korea's amazing Wi-Fi (it's everywhere, I swear). I find Korea's emphasis on respecting your elders refreshing. However, Korean culture has its flaws, just like ANY OTHER CULTURE. As someone who has experienced American, Canadian, AND Korean culture, I know from experience that every culture has its pros and cons. I am most comfortable with Canadian and American culture, but that is purely a personal preference, not an insinuation that Canadian culture is the best.
I watched Simon and Martina's videos for the past two years. Yes, not everything they say about Korea is 100% correct. But nothing they said was outrageously wrong either. Most of the anger stems from the fact that Simon and Martina dared to criticize certain aspects of Korean life. As a Korean who has lived in Canada and America for most of my life, I agree with a lot of Simon and Martina's criticisms.
But honestly, don't take the hate too seriously. I was reading through some of the Korean comments, and a lot of them were making generalizations on blatantly wrong information. One person was cursing at Simon Martina for being judgemental Americans. I assure you, an American is not a synonym for a Canadian.
If you still insist on hating on this couple, I would like you to explain to me why without cursing at me angrily, and preferably in correct grammar (I am bilingual, so both Korean and English are fine). Could you link me to a specific video Simon and Martina made that has given you the impression that they are such terrible people? Thank you.

Seriously, though why are y'all so salty that you have to stalk these all the way to innocent Yuka's channel just to leave hate? For the record, they do speak Korean but their videos were aimed at an international audience, hence the English, and it's not like they're masters at Japanese either, most of these are phrases you can easily pick up from any Anime and the first two pages of Minna no Nihongo. Or could it be that you just can't handle the fact that they're enjoying themselves in you nemesis country, Japan?

Holy crap those koreans from the comments have some serious mental problems @_@ I remember Simon and Martina talking about how there is little consideration given to mental health in korea and I guess this is the result because I have never seen that anywhere else from any other nationality on the internet... this is abnormal and antisocial behaviour. I hope that this is just minor thing but it's still pretty scary that people can have so much undisguised hate. I never realised that Simon and Martina had to experience this bs on a normal basis living in korea and I kind of admire them for persevering... Japan must really be a breath of fresh air in comparison
