I still see people theorizing this song and people replying that this song has no meaning, hachi said so.

It's true that hachi said this has no meaning, but thats just means that hachi made this song out of his whim. This song resembles whats going on inside his head, does he need our help? No. This just show the "insanity" that doesn't necessarily needed any deep meaning.

I feel like we putting way too much meaning into this song, don’t get my wrong, reading every theory here is actually one of my favourite things ever but when you know the producer (Hachi or don’t wonder if I call him Kenshi, like it’s his real name) a bit better, is it a bit easier to understand what I’m going to say. Kenshi produced his Vocaloid Stuff mainly for himself, because he didn’t have that perfect childhood. He has High-functioning autism, he never really talked to his parents and he couldn’t communicate/interact with his classmates really well. They made fun of him, cuz he repeated always his sentences, his name isn’t common in japan and so did he see hisself as a monster. As he started to produce Vocaloid songs and publish them on NicoNico was probably his hardest time. Compared to his newer music, are these songs here like Matryoshka, Panda Hero, Rinne and each other song really messy, sounding like just tons of instruments without any sense. I really, really love this and his first album he released with his own voice (Diorama) still follows this style and I especially love when you hear each instrument when you listen to it with earphones. Anyways, back to the Kenshi. I just feel like he started making music for the world and not only for him with his own voice, he put meaning into it and started having a feeling for everything, I think you can hear much improvement in his masterpieces, cuz kenshi is a true god for me.
Since his songs with his own voice having a meaning, which is easier to figure out, helped his music me a lot. I feel understood and he inspires me daily. It doesn’t means I love his Vocaloid songs less, both of them are really, really special to me. If you want to get more information about Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu would i recommend to read his Bremen interview, if I got anything wrong is there the correction, it’s on google :)

This song actually has no meaning, and it is meant to be that way to confuse you and get your mind thinking creatively. It's just a song of utter chaos

I think no one has pointed out the clearly russian references. Firstly, the title. Secondly, the fact that they are dressep up as gopnik, and there appear some buildings over their heads, which I can't help but associate to this group moving into apartments after metropolization. And of course, the recurring implication of "it has no meaning", often associated to a careless/nonchalant style of life. Also the musical structure, explicitly inspired in russian folk music. And the "калинка (a famous russian folk song) , малинка (raspberry?)". Lastly, the seemingly incoherent cyrilic lyrics in the video.

The actual meaning of the song is there is no meaning, that's why the title is matryoshka.

Matryoshkas are Russian dolls which contains another doll inside, this goes on and on until the last doll. Now how does this correlate to the song you might ask? Well it's simple, this song has a lot of words that sounds like symbolism, but once you get deep enough, you'll find those words actually have little to no meaning in context.
This is similar to how a matryoshka has a lot of layers and complications, but after you go deep enough, and reach the last doll, there's nothing inside the last doll.

matryoshka is a Russian doll with smaller ones in it. the look of gumi and miku on the faces is abstract like everything. Matryoshka probably intended to represent the stages of madness. In the beginning, miku and gumi did not open their mouths. When they did, however, they probably already opened the dolls. In the end, when gumi went from grinning to emotionless black and white. If so to speak, all the dolls would be opened and only the small body would be inside. She tore the layers of madness but it was the only thing they felt.
